Strawberry Cottage was named because it is built with straw bales (from Ian's farm) and it overlooks the strawberry patch in the middle of the vineyard.

Situated just five minutes from central Blenheim, Strawberry Cottage is around the corner from Montana's Brancott Estate vineyard, one of Blenheim's most popular wedding and conference venues. It is also within easy walking distance of Mt Riley vineyard and the historic Cob Cottage.

During your stay, take a dip in the pool, a ride on Timmy the family pony, or enjoy some quiet contemplation by the Opawa River, which meanders through the property.  Taste some of the olive oil pressed from the olive grove.

A port-a-cot and high chair are available if you are travelling with little ones, and Ian can usually arrange a babysitter if you fancy a night out in one of Marlborough’s fine restaurants. Ian is happy to help with recommendations, bookings, and pickups and drop-offs.

The cottage is self-contained, and provisions for a light and tasty continental breakfast or bacon and free range eggs are provided.

About your host
Before moving to Marlborough, Ian farmed near Fairlie in the McKenzie high country. His travels have focused mainly on Asia and the Pacific. 

Ian, with his daughter Catherine and son Tom, started growing Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay grapes for Oyster Bay vineyard six years ago.  Ian built Strawberry Cottage from hay he grew himself and lived in it while his award-winning house was built next door.
